About Dr Isabel Lenham
HCPC Registration No: PYL047503
I am a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience in various settings in the NHS, prisons, and private rehabilitation centres. Currently I hold a post in the NHS, at Ealing Rise, as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, supporting adults with substance misuse, addiction, and dual diagnosis and their affected significant others.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, each bringing their own unique experiences, histories and perspectives. This has enriched my practice and deepened my understanding of the human experience. I have worked with a vast range of mental health difficulties, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, behavioural and substance addiction, and difficulties associated with neurodevelopmental conditions, across the lifespan. I have trained in several key types of psychological therapy, each offering a distinct approach to addressing difficulties. Through ongoing professional development and supervision, I stay informed about the latest research and best practices in mental health. I am committed to fostering a collaborative therapeutic relationship, where we work together to navigate your journey towards emotional well-being and resilience.
Whilst being a qualified psychologist, I firmly believe in human-to-human interaction, walking alongside you as you embark on your journey of long-lasting wellbeing. My approach to is rooted in the belief that every individual possesses the capacity for growth and healing. Having lived-experience of mental health difficulties and receiving therapy during my teenage years, I firmly believe in the possibility of recovery. Coming to therapy can be very daunting, and I appreciate the courage in seeking help, self-exploration and navigating change. I utilise a person-centred framework, where clients can explore themselves in a safe and non-judgemental environment at a pace that suits you. By integrating various evidence-based therapeutic modalities, I tailor sessions to meet your unique needs and strive to empower you to overcome the obstacles so you can thrive.
Alongside my clinical work, I am particularly interested in improving mental health care in our community. My research to date includes understanding identity and recovery processes in 12-Step programmes for Alcoholism, gambling treatment and developing an intervention for carers wellbeing whilst supporting their children transitioning to adult eating disorder services.
